Last year I did a New Year’s Eve ride around the Stanley Park loop (SPLoop) and False Creek Seawall and really enjoyed it. I wasn’t sure the weather would allow one this year, but lo and behold no rain! I may have just started an annual tradition.

It didn’t feel like there were as many people out and about this year versus last year. There were definitely fewer people walking on the Stanley Park Seawall. Maybe because it was colder? And I heard a lot more non-English conversations so maybe more tourists out this year than last year.

I love seeing the lights at night and was treated to some really pretty views. The tree lights were especially out in force at Coal Harbour. My favourite non-light related moment on the ride was wishing happy new year to a group of 20-somethings on the False Creek Seawall. The enthusiastic happy new year I got back put a smile on my face for the next kilometer.
