The River Has Roots by Amal El-Mohtar
Normally I notice a book’s language if it’s bad. The language in The River Has Roots jumped out at me because it was good! Amal El-Mohtar has a wonderfully lyrical voice. The River Has Roots was luxurious and a great pleasure to read. 4 stars and recommended!
When the Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi
A noble attempt but When the Moon Hits Your Eye didn’t work for me. It’s a credit to Scalzi’s writing that he held my interest for the entire book. It just didn’t stick the landing. 3.5 stars.
