The Banana Splits!

When I was growing up, one of my favourite shows was The Banana Splits. If you haven’t heard of The Banana Splits, you can get all the gory details in this Banana Splits Wikipedia article. Fleegle was my favourite. One of the interstitials featured the Banana Splits goofing around in their banana buggies, which were ATVs with tails attached. My schoolmates and I would tie skipping ropes to hula-hoops and run around in imaginary banana buggies at recess.

At some point in the show’s run you could write in for a puzzle. This is what’s left of mine.

I was very upset when I lost puzzle pieces. I’ve gotten over it. Mostly.

Looking at the envelope it arrived in, I’m a bit surprised it got to me. The town is misspelled — it should be Quesnel — and there is no box number for RR 4 (rural route 4). And yes, this was in a time before postal codes.

Fortunately there aren’t to many BC towns beginning with Q and our rural route letter carrier recognized the somewhat mangled name and made a young boy quite happy.
